What is Microneedling/ Collagen Induction Therapy?

CIT (Collagen induction therapy) is a minimally invasive prodcedure that aims to improve the appearance of fine lines, wrinkles, and scars by stimulating existing collagen and elastin. CIT, also known as microbeedling, has become quite popular with patients and technicians because it is safe and effective and yields amazing results. This treatment is beneficial for all skin tones.

What does Microneedling -CIT help with?

CIT helps with a multitude of issues such as:

* Uneven skin tone and texture

* Scarring

* Cellulite

* Enlarged pores

* Fine lines and wrinkles

* Loose skin

* Stretch marks

*Pigmentation (hormonal and sun damage)

What can I do to encourage good results?

It is extremely important that the patient use professional skin care products at home. After microneedling A take home kit will be given to aid in the healing process for the first 5 days after the procedure.  It is recommended that you also purchase skin care to aid in the health of your skin. Internal health is just as important. Hydration is key to healthy skin. Supplements are also essential at making sure your skin has the nutrients it needs to rebuild itself.

  1. Glucosamine, not only does it provide healthy joint support but speeds healing. The first few days of trauma enhance HA production in the wound which allows for fewer complications related to scarring.

  2. Liposomal Vitamin C - The liposome delivery system has hydrophilic and hydrophobic portions, providing a fat and water portion, which allows vitamin C to be absorbed through the fat and water soluble pathways for optimal absorption in the body.Liposomal C is an antioxidant that protects the body against oxidative stress. C is found in high concentrations in immune cells and also plays an important role in aiding several collagen synthesis reactions.

  3. Biotin- When using CIT to stimulate hair regrowth, internal support from the essential water-soluble B vitamin, Biotin, is recommended. Studies have also linked Biotin to healthy skin, nails, intestinal flora, as well as regulating low blood sugar levels and the nervous system.

How many treatments will I need?

The number of Microneedling treatments depends on your clients’ current skin condition and goals. Three to four treatments may be needed for moderate acne scars. Scars from thermal burns and stretch marks may require between 6-10 CIT sessions. The added Collagen lasts up to 12 months and a refresher treatment is recommended every 6 months to 1 year in order to fight the signs of ageing. Your client should be advised that multiple sessions may be needed to reach their desired results in order to meet their expectations.
